Briggs & Stratton 312001x50C Parts Manual

To start the tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the transmission is in neutral, and the throttle is set to choke. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine runs.
Check the fuel level, battery charge, and spark plug condition. Ensure the safety switches are engaged and the ignition system is functioning properly.
Change the oil every 50 hours of operation or at the start of each season, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance.
Use clean, fresh unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than 10%.
Check for a level mower deck, sharp blades, and proper tire pressure. Adjust the deck height and ensure there are no obstructions under the deck.
Regular maintenance includes checking and replacing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening the blades, and inspecting belts and tires.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the old spark plug with a socket wrench, and install a new one. Ensure it is gapped correctly before reconnecting the wire.
Stop the tractor and allow it to cool. Check for obstructions in the cooling fins and air intake screen. Ensure proper oil level and clean any debris from the engine area.
Check tire pressure and consider adding wheel weights or chains for increased traction. Ensure the tires have sufficient tread and are not worn out.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, add fuel stabilizer, and remove the battery for storage. Keep the tractor in a dry, sheltered location.
