To start the tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the throttle is set to choke if the engine is cold. Turn the key to the start position and release it once the engine begins to run.
Check that the battery is charged and connections are clean. Ensure there is fuel in the tank and the fuel valve is open. Verify that the spark plug is clean and properly gapped.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 50 hours of operation or at the beginning of each season, whichever comes first.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 and no more than 10% ethanol content.
Remove the mower deck according to the manual instructions. Secure the blade and use a file or grinder to sharpen the blade, maintaining the original angle. Balance the blade before reinstalling.
Check the tire pressure and adjust if necessary. Ensure the mower deck is level and the blades are sharp. Inspect for any damage or obstructions under the deck.
Regularly check and replace the air filter, change the oil, inspect the spark plug, and lubricate all moving parts. Refer to the manual for specific intervals and procedures.
Refer to the tractor's manual for specific tire pressure recommendations, typically around 10-14 PSI for the front tires and 8-10 PSI for the rear tires.
Check if the blades are balanced and not damaged. Ensure all bolts are tightened, and inspect the belts and pulleys for wear or misalignment.
Check for loose or corroded battery connections, and ensure the battery is charging properly. Consider replacing the battery if it is old or unable to hold a charge.
