To set up your Advent Minishred Shredder, remove all packaging materials, place the shredder on a stable surface, and ensure it is near a power outlet. Insert the shredder head securely onto the shredder bin, then plug it in and switch it on.
If the shredder jams, switch it off and unplug it. Carefully remove any paper stuck in the blades using tweezers or a suitable tool. Avoid using fingers or metal objects to prevent injury or damage. Once cleared, plug the shredder back in and test it with fewer sheets.
It is recommended to oil the shredder blades every 30 minutes of cumulative use or at least once a month. Use shredder-specific oil and apply it by running an oiled sheet through the shredder.
The Advent Minishred Shredder is designed to handle paper, credit cards, and small paper clips. It is not suitable for shredding CDs, DVDs, or large clips/staples.
Unplug the shredder before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior and a small brush or vacuum to remove paper dust from the feed entry and blades. Avoid using water or harsh chemicals.
The Advent Minishred Shredder has a maximum sheet capacity of 10 sheets of 80gsm paper in a single pass. Overloading may result in jams or reduced performance.
Shredders overheat due to prolonged use. To prevent overheating, adhere to the recommended operation time, usually 5 minutes on and 30 minutes off. Ensure the shredder is not blocked or overloaded.
Check if the shredder is properly plugged in and switched on. Ensure the shredder head is correctly aligned with the bin. Check for any obstructions and reset the shredder by switching it off and on again.
Unusual noises could indicate a jam or need for lubrication. Stop the shredder, unplug it, and check for any obstructions. Apply shredder oil to the blades and test it again. If the noise persists, consult customer service.
Ensure the shredder is off and unplugged, then carefully remove the shredder head from the bin. Empty the contents into a recycling or waste bin, depending on the type of material shredded.
