To set up the Xiaomi Yi Home Camera, download the Yi Home app from the App Store or Google Play, create an account, and sign in. Connect the camera to a power source, and wait for the yellow LED to flash. Open the app, tap on the '+' icon, select your camera model, and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz as the camera does not support 5GHz. Move the camera closer to the router and check for any Wi-Fi signal interference. Restart your router and camera, and try reconnecting using the Yi Home app.
To reset the camera, locate the reset button usually found on the back or the bottom of the device. Use a pin to press and hold the reset button for about 5 seconds until you hear a voice prompt indicating the reset is complete.
The Xiaomi Yi Home Camera can be mounted using the included mounting bracket or adhesive pads. Choose a high location for a wide field of view and ensure the camera is within range of your Wi-Fi network. Use screws to secure the bracket to the wall and slide the camera onto the bracket.
Open the Yi Home app, select your camera, and go to the settings menu. Enable motion detection and configure the sensitivity level to your preference. Ensure notifications are allowed in your smartphone settings to receive alerts.
Ensure the camera is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi. Restart the camera and app. Check for any firmware updates in the Yi Home app, and update if necessary. If the issue persists, reset the camera and reconfigure it.
Insert a microSD card into the camera for local storage. Open the Yi Home app, select your camera, and navigate to the 'Playback' section to view recorded footage. You can also use cloud storage services if subscribed.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and unobstructed. Check your internet connection speed, as poor connectivity can affect streaming quality. Adjust the video quality settings in the app and ensure the camera firmware is up to date.
The Xiaomi Yi Home Camera is designed for indoor use. However, with a proper weatherproof enclosure and power supply, it can be used in sheltered outdoor areas. Ensure it is protected from direct exposure to weather elements.
Open the Yi Home app, select your camera, and go to the 'Camera Sharing' section. Enter the email address of the person you want to share with and send an invitation. They will need to download the Yi Home app and create an account to view the feed.
