To adjust the seat height, open the quick-release lever or use an Allen wrench to loosen the bolt beneath the seat. Adjust the seat post to your desired height and ensure it's aligned with the frame. Tighten the bolt or close the quick-release lever securely before riding.
The recommended tire pressure is usually printed on the sidewall of your tires. For most Trek standard bicycles, it ranges between 50 to 85 psi. Ensure you check your tire specifications for precise pressure requirements.
First, remove the wheel from the bicycle. Then, use tire levers to unseat the tire from the rim. Remove the inner tube, locate the puncture, and patch it using a repair kit. Reinstall the tube and tire, inflate to the recommended pressure, and reattach the wheel.
Use a bicycle-specific lubricant. For dry conditions, use a dry lube to prevent dust accumulation, and for wet conditions, use a wet lube to repel moisture. Apply the lubricant to a clean chain and wipe off any excess.
It's recommended to perform basic maintenance, such as cleaning and lubrication, every month. A professional service should be done every 6 months to 1 year, depending on usage intensity.
Check if the brake pads are worn out and replace them if necessary. Clean the rims and pads to remove dirt and debris. Ensure that the brake pads are correctly aligned with the rims and that all bolts are securely tightened.
Regularly clean and dry your bicycle, especially after exposure to rain or mud. Apply a light coat of oil or bicycle polish to metal parts. Store your bike indoors or use a cover when not in use.
Use a gentle soap and water solution to clean the frame and components. Avoid using high-pressure water to protect bearings and seals. Dry the bicycle thoroughly and apply lubricant to the chain and moving parts.
Shift to the smallest chainring and sprocket. Use the barrel adjuster on the derailleur to fine-tune the cable tension. Align the derailleur so the chain moves smoothly without skipping or rubbing noises.
Before each ride, check tire pressure, brake function, chain lubrication, and the security of quick-release levers or bolts. Inspect the bicycle for any visible damage or wear to ensure a safe ride.
