To assemble the TLR04007 8IGHT-X Race Kit, you will need a metric hex driver set, needle-nose pliers, a hobby knife, a ride height gauge, a shock pump, and thread-locking compound.
To set the suspension, start by adjusting the droop screws to control the arm's downward travel. Set the camber to about -1 to -2 degrees and adjust the shock oil and springs based on track conditions.
Check for any binding in the steering linkage and ensure that the servo saver is not too loose. Also, inspect the servo horn and linkage for any damage or wear.
It is recommended to check and rebuild the shock absorbers every 5-10 hours of running time, or sooner if you notice any leakage or performance issues.
Use a soft brush to remove dirt and debris, then wipe the surfaces with a damp cloth. Avoid using water directly on electronics and lubricate moving parts after cleaning.
Regularly check and maintain the differential oils and ensure that the gears are properly meshed. Use high-quality lubricants and replace worn-out parts promptly.
Ensure that the carburetor settings are correct and that the fuel mixture is not too rich. Check the glow plug and replace it if necessary. Also, inspect the fuel lines for any blockage or air leaks.
Loosen the motor screws and slide the motor towards the spur gear. Use a piece of paper between the pinion and spur gear to set the correct mesh, then tighten the motor screws.
For loose dirt tracks, use tires with larger pins. For hard-packed surfaces, opt for smaller pin patterns. For clay tracks, soft compound tires are recommended.
Ensure all electronics are securely mounted and use waterproof enclosures when possible. Regularly check for exposed wires and seal any potential entry points with silicone or liquid tape.
