To set up the suspension, start by adjusting the ride height, then set the camber and toe angles. Use shock oil and springs suited to your track conditions, and make sure the dampers are smoothly operating.
Check for loose servo connections or damaged servo gears. Inspect the steering linkage for any obstructions or wear. Ensure that the servo saver is functioning correctly and the wheels are aligned.
Regularly clean and lubricate the gears and bearings. Check for wear and replace any damaged parts. Ensure that the differential is correctly adjusted and operates smoothly.
Use high-quality batteries and maintain them by storing at room temperature and discharging them properly. Balance charge your batteries regularly to ensure even cell voltage.
Adjust the tire type and compound based on the surface. Tune the suspension settings such as camber, toe, and shock damping to match the track conditions.
Perform a basic inspection after each race. Clean the car and check for any loose screws. Every 5-10 runs, dismantle key components like the shocks and drivetrain for a thorough cleaning and lubrication.
Use a setup board to ensure the chassis is flat. Adjust the camber and toe links to achieve the desired wheel alignment, typically slight negative camber and zero toe for straight-line stability.
Check the motor and ESC settings to ensure they are configured correctly. Inspect the drivetrain for any binding or worn parts. Make sure the battery is fully charged and providing the correct voltage.
Ensure proper airflow around the motor and ESC by removing any obstructions. Use a fan if necessary. Check that the gear mesh is not too tight, and use appropriate gearing for the track conditions.
Common upgrades include high-performance tires, a stronger servo, lightweight drivetrain components, and upgraded suspension parts like shock towers and arms.
