For assembly, you will need a set of hex drivers, a Phillips screwdriver, needle-nose pliers, a hobby knife, and a turnbuckle wrench. A setup station for alignment can also be helpful.
To break in the engine, start with a rich fuel mixture and run the engine at low RPMs for a few tanks, gradually leaning the mixture and increasing RPMs as the engine breaks in.
Check the glow plug, ensure the fuel lines are clear, verify the carburetor settings, and check for air leaks around the engine.
Adjust the suspension setup by using softer springs and lighter shock oil. Increasing toe-in and adjusting the camber can also help improve handling.
Clean the chassis, check for loose screws, inspect the drive train for wear, clean and oil the air filter, and check the suspension components for damage.
Loosen the engine mount screws, adjust the position of the engine so that there is a small amount of play between the spur and pinion gears, and then retighten the screws.
Use a high-quality nitro fuel with a 20-30% nitro content for optimal performance and engine life.
Use preload clips on the shock absorbers to adjust the ride height so the chassis sits level when viewed from the side. Adjust based on track conditions.
Ensure the antenna is fully extended, check for damaged wires, and avoid running near sources of interference like power lines. Re-bind the transmitter and receiver if necessary.
Install a larger pinion gear or a smaller spur gear, ensure the engine is properly tuned, and reduce any unnecessary weight from the vehicle.
