Regular maintenance should be conducted after every 5-10 hours of racing. This includes cleaning the chassis, checking the suspension components for wear, and ensuring that all screws are tight.
Check the servo connections and ensure they are secure. Examine the steering linkage and servo horn for any signs of damage or looseness. Adjust the servo trim on your transmitter if necessary.
Use compressed air to remove dirt and debris from the chassis. Wipe down the car with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Avoid using water directly on electronic components.
Adjust the shock absorbers by changing the oil viscosity and spring tension based on the track conditions. Ensure that the camber and toe settings are correct for better handling.
Inspect the battery connections and ensure they are secure. Check the motor and ESC for overheating or damage. Verify that the gear mesh is correctly set to prevent binding.
Use high-quality parts and keep up with regular maintenance. Reinforce weak points on the chassis with additional support parts if needed. Consider using upgraded components for high-stress areas.
Common upgrades include high-performance tires, stronger servo, upgraded motor and ESC, and lightweight materials for the chassis. Adjusting the suspension setup can also significantly enhance performance.
Ensure there is a slight amount of play between the pinion and spur gear. This can be checked by inserting a piece of paper between the gears, tightening the motor screws, and then removing the paper.
Verify that both the transmitter and receiver are properly bound. Check the batteries in both devices and ensure they are charged. Inspect all connections for any signs of damage or looseness.
Adjust the suspension settings to be softer, increase the weight on the rear end, and use tires designed for loose surfaces. Lowering the ride height can also help improve traction.
