The recommended oil type for the Subaru EH36 engine is SAE 10W-30, and the oil capacity is approximately 1.0 liters (1.06 US quarts).
It is recommended to check the air filter every 50 hours of operation and replace it every 200 hours or sooner if it appears dirty or damaged.
To troubleshoot starting issues, check the fuel level, ensure the fuel valve is open, inspect the spark plug for wear or fouling, and confirm that the air filter is clean. If the problem persists, verify the ignition system and carburetor settings.
Regularly inspect the carburetor for dirt and deposits. Clean it using a carburetor cleaner spray and ensure the choke and throttle are moving freely. It's advisable to have the carburetor professionally serviced annually.
First, ensure the engine is cool. Remove the valve cover, then use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the rocker arm and valve stem. Adjust by turning the adjuster screw to achieve the specified clearance, then secure the lock nut.
Black smoke indicates a rich fuel mixture. Check the air filter for obstructions, inspect the carburetor for proper adjustment, and ensure the choke is not stuck. Correct any issues found to resolve the problem.
Remove the spark plug and insert a compression gauge into the spark plug hole. Crank the engine several times and observe the gauge reading. Compare it with the manufacturer's specifications to determine engine health.
Regular maintenance includes changing the engine oil every 100 hours, checking and replacing the air filter as needed, inspecting and cleaning the spark plug, and ensuring all bolts and screws are tight.
Check the cooling fins for debris and clean them. Ensure the engine is not overloaded, and verify that the oil level is correct. Inspect the air intake and exhaust systems for blockages.
Inspect the fuel system for clogs, check the spark plug condition, and ensure the air filter is clean. Also, verify that the carburetor is properly adjusted and that there are no vacuum leaks.
