To change the blade, first unplug the saw. Use the wrench included with the saw to loosen the arbor nut by turning it counterclockwise. Remove the old blade and replace it with a new one, ensuring the teeth are pointing in the correct direction. Tighten the arbor nut securely before using the saw again.
The maximum cutting depth of the Skil BW9501-00 saw is 2-1/2 inches at 90 degrees and 1-3/4 inches at 45 degrees.
If your saw is not starting, ensure it is plugged into a working power outlet. Check the power cord and switch for any visible damage. If everything appears normal, the issue might be with the internal motor or brushes, and professional servicing may be required.
Regularly inspect the blade guard to ensure it moves freely and does not stick. Clean any debris or sawdust that may accumulate around the guard. Lubricate the pivot points with light machine oil if necessary.
For cutting plywood, use a fine-toothed carbide blade designed for smooth cuts. A blade with 60 to 80 teeth is ideal for minimizing splintering and achieving a clean cut.
To ensure accurate cuts, check that the blade is properly aligned and sharp. Use a guide or straight edge for precision. Mark your cutting line clearly and move steadily through the cut without forcing the saw.
To reduce sawdust, connect a vacuum to the saw's dust port if available. Alternatively, use a damp cloth to catch sawdust or make cuts outside to minimize indoor dust accumulation.
If the blade dulls quickly, ensure you are using the correct blade for the material and avoid cutting materials that the blade is not designed for. Regularly inspect and clean the blade, and replace it when necessary.
The Skil BW9501-00 is not designed for tile cutting. Using it for such purposes may damage the blade and the saw. Use a tile saw specifically designed for cutting tiles.
To adjust the bevel angle, loosen the bevel adjustment knob on the side of the saw. Tilt the base to the desired angle, using the bevel scale for reference, and then tighten the knob to secure the angle in place.
