To change the blade on the Skil 5280-01 Saw, first unplug the saw. Then, use the spindle lock button to secure the blade. Use the provided wrench to loosen the arbor nut, replace the blade, and tighten the arbor nut securely before releasing the spindle lock.
The Skil 5280-01 Saw has a maximum cutting depth of 2-3/8 inches at 90 degrees and 1-15/16 inches at 45 degrees.
To adjust the bevel angle, locate the bevel adjustment lever on the saw. Loosen the lever, tilt the base to the desired angle, and then tighten the lever to secure the angle.
The Skil 5280-01 Saw includes a safety lock/guarded trigger to prevent accidental starts and an integrated dust blower to keep your line of cut clear.
If the saw is not starting, ensure it is plugged into a working power outlet. Check the power cord for damage. If the saw still does not start, the internal switch may need replacement, requiring professional service.
Regular maintenance includes checking the blade for sharpness, cleaning dust and debris from the saw, and inspecting the power cord for damage. Lubricate moving parts if necessary and ensure all screws are tightened.
The Skil 5280-01 Saw is primarily designed for cutting wood. Using it to cut metal is not recommended as it may damage the saw and void the warranty.
To ensure accurate cuts, use a straight edge or guide along the desired cut line. Check and adjust the saw blade alignment if necessary, and ensure the blade is sharp.
The Skil 5280-01 Saw is compatible with 7-1/4 inch blades. Use a blade appropriate for the material being cut, such as a carbide-tipped blade for wood.
After use, unplug the saw and use a dry cloth to wipe off dust and debris. Use compressed air to clean hard-to-reach areas, ensuring the ventilation slots are clear for optimal performance.
