To thread the Singer SIIB9020, start by raising the presser foot and turning the handwheel to raise the needle. Place the spool of thread on the spool pin and follow the threading path indicated on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through the tension discs and take-up lever before threading the needle.
Check if the needle is bent or dull, and replace if necessary. Ensure the machine is threaded correctly and the bobbin is inserted properly. Adjust the tension settings and clean any lint or debris from the bobbin area.
To adjust the tension, locate the tension dial on the machine. Increase the tension by turning the dial to a higher number for tighter stitches, or decrease it by turning to a lower number for looser stitches. Test on a scrap fabric to find the optimal setting.
Ensure you are using the correct needle type and size for your fabric. Avoid pulling the fabric while sewing and check for any obstructions in the needle path. Replace the needle regularly to prevent breakage.
Regularly clean the machine by removing lint and dust from the bobbin area and feed dogs with a small brush. Oil the machine as per the manual's instructions, and ensure it is covered when not in use to prevent dust accumulation.
Check the needle for bends or dullness and replace if needed. Ensure the machine is threaded correctly and the tension is adjusted appropriately. Use the correct needle and thread combination for your fabric type.
Listen for unusual noises, difficulty in moving parts, or inconsistent stitching. If the machine frequently jams or the tension settings don't seem to work, it may require professional servicing.
Raise the presser foot lifter and press the release lever to detach the current presser foot. Align the new presser foot under the holder and lower the presser foot lifter to snap it into place.
Ensure the feed dogs are raised and not dropped for free-motion sewing. Check that the presser foot is down and adjust the presser foot pressure as needed. Clean any debris under the feed dogs.
Select the buttonhole stitch on the machine, attach the buttonhole foot, and mark the buttonhole placement on the fabric. Lower the buttonhole lever, place the fabric, and start sewing while the machine automatically creates the buttonhole.
