To thread the Singer SIDF60, start by raising the presser foot and turning the handwheel towards you to raise the needle. Place the spool on the spool pin, and follow the threading path as indicated on the machine. Ensure the thread passes through the take-up lever and finally thread the needle from front to back.
If the machine is not picking up the bobbin thread, recheck if the bobbin is placed correctly in the bobbin case. Ensure the needle is inserted properly and not bent. Also, ensure the machine is threaded correctly and the top tension is not too tight.
To maintain the Singer SIDF60, turn off and unplug the machine. Remove the needle plate and clean the lint and dust with a small brush. Oil the designated points as per the manual using sewing machine oil. Regularly change the needle and keep the machine covered when not in use.
Bunching of fabric can be caused by incorrect threading, so re-thread the machine. Check the tension setting and adjust if needed. Make sure the presser foot is lowered and ensure you are using the correct needle and thread for your fabric type.
To change the needle, turn off the machine and lower the presser foot. Loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the old needle. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back and tighten the clamp screw securely.
A knocking noise can be caused by a loose needle, so ensure it is tightened properly. It might also indicate a need for cleaning or oiling. Check for any tangled thread or debris in the bobbin area.
To adjust the tension on the Singer SIDF60, locate the tension dial typically on the front of the machine. Increase tension by turning the dial to a higher number and decrease it by turning to a lower number. Test on a scrap fabric to achieve the desired stitch quality.
Skipped stitches can be fixed by ensuring the needle is not damaged and is correctly inserted. Re-thread the machine, and check the bobbin for proper placement. Adjust the tension if necessary and use the appropriate needle size for your fabric.
Store your Singer SIDF60 in a cool, dry place. Cover it with a dust cover to prevent dust accumulation. Ensure it is unplugged and that all accessories are stored in the accessory compartment or a separate container.
To use the automatic buttonhole feature, attach the buttonhole foot and select the buttonhole stitch. Place your fabric under the foot and lower the buttonhole lever. Start sewing and the machine will automatically sew the buttonhole in four steps.
