To update the software on your Simrad NSS evo3, download the latest software update from the Simrad website onto a USB drive. Insert the USB drive into the NSS evo3, go to Settings > System > About > Software Update, and follow the on-screen instructions.
If the touchscreen is unresponsive, first try a system reset by holding the power button until the device reboots. Ensure the screen is clean and free from debris. If the issue persists, check for software updates as a fix might be included in newer versions.
To calibrate the radar, access the Radar menu from the home screen, select Installation, and follow the prompts for calibration. Ensure the vessel is in open water and follow the instructions for heading and bearing alignment.
If the GPS signal is weak, ensure the antenna has a clear view of the sky and is not obstructed. Check the connections and ensure the latest software is installed. Reboot the device to see if the signal improves.
To connect to a Wi-Fi network, go to the Settings menu, select Wireless, then Wi-Fi. Choose your network from the list and enter the password. Once connected, confirm the connection is stable by checking the status indicator.
To backup waypoints and routes, insert a USB drive into the NSS evo3, go to the Files menu, select the Waypoints, Routes, and Tracks option, and choose Export. Follow the prompts to save the data to the USB drive.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the screen with a soft, damp cloth, ensuring all connections are secure, checking for software updates, and inspecting the device and any connected sensors for physical damage.
Check all connections and ensure the NMEA 2000 backbone is properly terminated. Verify that the power supply to the network is adequate. Use the device's network diagnostic tools to identify any issues and address them accordingly.
Inspect the power supply to ensure it is stable and within the recommended voltage range. Check for loose connections. If the problem persists, perform a soft reset of the device and verify that the latest firmware is installed.
Access the home screen, select Customize, and choose Edit Layout. You can then add, remove, or resize panels to suit your preferences. Save the changes once you are satisfied with the layout.
