To descale the Salter EK3131, fill the water tank with a descaling solution mixed with water according to the manufacturer's instructions. Run the machine as if you are making coffee, but without adding coffee grounds. Repeat the process with clean water to rinse.
Ensure the machine is preheated by running a brewing cycle with just water before making coffee. Additionally, check if the temperature settings are correctly configured according to the user manual.
Ensure the steam wand is clean and not clogged. Use cold milk and a clean frothing jug. If the problem persists, check the steam wand for blockages and clean it thoroughly.
Use freshly ground coffee beans and ensure the grind size is appropriate for espresso. Experiment with different coffee blends and adjust the tamping pressure for better extraction.
Regularly clean the drip tray, water tank, and group head. Descale the machine every 3 months or as needed, and clean the steam wand after each use to prevent milk residue buildup.
Check the water tank for cracks or damage. Ensure it is seated properly in the machine and that the seal is intact. Replace the tank if necessary.
Check if the machine is placed on a stable surface and ensure all parts are securely attached. Loud noises can also be caused by blockages in the water line or pump issues, which may require professional servicing.
Ensure the machine is plugged in and the power switch is on. Check the fuse or circuit breaker, and try a different outlet to rule out electrical issues.
Use the correct grind size and avoid overfilling the portafilter. Regularly clean the group head and ensure the portafilter is correctly locked in place to prevent grounds from spilling.
The ideal water temperature for brewing espresso is between 90°C and 96°C (194°F to 205°F). Ensure your machine is properly calibrated to maintain this temperature range.
