To start the Ryobi RY15527 Trimmer, ensure the trimmer is on a flat surface. Prime the engine by pressing the primer bulb about 10 times. Set the choke lever to the start position and pull the starter rope until the engine starts. Once it starts, move the choke lever to the run position.
The Ryobi RY15527 Trimmer requires a fuel mix of unleaded gasoline and 2-cycle oil at a ratio of 50:1. Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum 87 octane rating and mix it with high-quality 2-cycle engine oil.
To replace the trimmer line, first disconnect the spark plug. Remove the spool cap by pressing the release tabs. Take out the old line and insert new line into the holes on the spool, winding it in the direction of the arrows. Secure the ends in the notches and reattach the spool cap.
If the trimmer won't start, check for a proper fuel mix and ensure the fuel is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Clean the air filter and ensure it is not clogged. Lastly, make sure the choke is in the correct position for starting.
To clean the air filter, remove the air filter cover by unscrewing it. Take out the air filter and wash it in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Make sure the filter is seated properly before reattaching the cover.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting the spark plug and replacing it if necessary, examining the trimmer line, and ensuring the cutting head is secure. Also, check for any loose screws or parts and tighten them.
To adjust the idle speed, locate the idle speed screw on the carburetor. With the trimmer running, turn the screw clockwise to increase idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it until the engine runs smoothly without the cutting head rotating.
Wear protective gear including safety glasses, gloves, and long pants. Keep bystanders at least 50 feet away. Avoid operating the trimmer in wet conditions to prevent slipping. Always turn off the trimmer and disconnect the spark plug before performing any maintenance.
To store the trimmer for winter, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Clean the trimmer thoroughly, removing any dirt or debris. Store it in a dry, secure place, away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures.
If the trimmer line keeps breaking, ensure you are using the correct diameter line for the trimmer. Avoid contact with hard surfaces like concrete or rocks, which can cause the line to snap. Check for any obstructions on the trimmer head that might cut the line prematurely.
