To assemble the Pyle PHMD1 Metal Detector, start by attaching the search coil to the lower stem. Then, connect the lower stem to the upper stem and adjust the length to a comfortable level. Secure the connection by tightening the lock nut. Finally, connect the control box to the upper stem.
To adjust the sensitivity settings on the Pyle PHMD1, turn the sensitivity knob on the control panel. For beginners, start with a medium setting. Increase the sensitivity in low-interference areas to detect deeper objects, but decrease it if you are experiencing false signals in mineral-rich or high-interference areas.
The Pyle PHMD1 uses an audio signal to indicate the type of metal detected. Generally, a low tone indicates ferrous metals like iron, while a higher tone indicates non-ferrous metals such as silver and gold. Familiarize yourself with the tones by testing known metal samples.
If the Pyle PHMD1 is not working, check the battery level and replace if necessary. Ensure all connections are secure and the search coil cable is not damaged. Reset the device by turning it off and on. If problems persist, refer to the user manual or contact customer support.
To clean the Pyle PHMD1, wipe the search coil and control box with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or submerging any part of the detector in water. Store the detector in a cool, dry place and remove the batteries if not used for extended periods.
Continuous false signals can be caused by high sensitivity settings or environmental interference. Reduce the sensitivity and ensure there are no nearby sources of electromagnetic interference, such as power lines or electronic devices. Additionally, check for loose connections or damaged cables.
The Pyle PHMD1 is designed to automatically adjust to ground conditions. To ensure accurate ground balancing, keep the search coil parallel to the ground and move it slowly. If needed, manually adjust the sensitivity and discrimination settings to suit the ground conditions.
The search coil of the Pyle PHMD1 is waterproof, allowing usage in wet grass or shallow water. However, the control box is not waterproof and should be protected from moisture. Avoid submerging the control box or using the detector in heavy rain.
The Pyle PHMD1 operates on two 9V batteries. Under typical conditions, expect the batteries to last approximately 20-30 hours. Always carry spare batteries during extended use to prevent downtime.
For optimal results, sweep the search coil in a slow, side-to-side motion, keeping it parallel to the ground. Overlap each sweep slightly to ensure full coverage. Maintain a consistent height of about 1-2 inches above the ground for precise detection.
