To adjust the truss rod on your Peavey T-15, first loosen the strings to relieve tension. Access the truss rod adjustment nut located at the headstock or body joint. Use an appropriate size allen wrench to turn the nut: clockwise to tighten and counterclockwise to loosen. Adjust in small increments and retune the guitar to check the neck relief.
To clean the fretboard of your Peavey T-15, use a soft cloth to remove dust and debris. For deeper cleaning, use a fretboard conditioner or lemon oil sparingly, applying with a cloth and wiping off excess. Avoid using water or harsh chemicals, especially on rosewood or ebony fretboards.
To reduce hum and noise, ensure the guitar is properly grounded. Check the wiring inside the control cavity for loose connections. Consider shielding the cavity with copper or aluminum tape. Using noise gate pedals or hum-reducing pickups can also help minimize unwanted noise.
The Peavey T-15 typically uses light to medium gauge strings, such as .010 to .046. However, the ideal gauge depends on personal preference and playing style. Experiment with different gauges to find the best balance of tone and playability for your needs.
To set the intonation, use a tuner and play the 12th fret harmonic and the fretted 12th fret note. If the fretted note is sharp, move the saddle back; if flat, move it forward. Adjust each string's saddle until both notes are in tune. This ensures accurate pitch across the fretboard.
To replace the output jack, remove the jack plate screws and take out the faulty jack. Desolder the wires and attach them to the new jack, ensuring correct polarity. Install the new jack into the plate and secure it with screws. Test the connection with an amplifier before final assembly.
If the action is too high, adjust the bridge saddles to lower the string height. Ensure the neck relief is set correctly by adjusting the truss rod if necessary. Finally, check the nut height as it can also affect action. Make small adjustments and check playability after each change.
To improve tuning stability, ensure the tuning pegs are secure and properly lubricated. Stretch new strings after installation and ensure they are wound correctly on the pegs. Adjust the nut slots and bridge saddles to reduce friction. Consider installing locking tuners for enhanced stability.
The recommended pickup height varies based on preference, but a good starting point is to set the pickups about 1/8 inch from the strings when pressed at the last fret. Adjust the height to achieve the desired balance between output and clarity.
To care for the finish, regularly wipe down the guitar with a soft, dry cloth to remove fingerprints and dust. Use a guitar-specific polish for deeper cleaning, avoiding household cleaners. Store the guitar in a case to protect it from environmental factors and direct sunlight.
