To program a channel, turn on the radio, press the "MENU" button, use the "UP" or "DOWN" arrows to select the channel, and press "PTT" to save the setting.
First, check if the batteries are correctly installed and fully charged. If using rechargeable batteries, ensure the radio is properly seated in the charging cradle.
To extend battery life, turn off the radio when not in use, use the "Low Power" setting for short-range communication, and recharge the batteries only when they are nearly depleted.
The Midland GXT760 can reach up to 36 miles under optimal conditions, but the range may be reduced by obstacles such as buildings, trees, and terrain.
To reset the radio to factory settings, turn off the radio, then press and hold the "MENU" button while turning it back on until the display shows "RESET".
Check that the volume is turned up, the radio is not in silent mode, and the headset (if used) is properly connected. Also, ensure that the channel is not set to a privacy code that is not in use.
To lock the keypad, press and hold the "LOCK" button. To unlock, press and hold the same button again.
Press the "MENU" button until the weather icon appears, then use the "UP" or "DOWN" buttons to select the weather channel. Ensure the weather alert icon is shown on the display to receive notifications.
The "BUSY" indicator means that the channel is currently in use. Wait until the channel is clear or switch to a different channel to transmit.
Ensure the antenna is fully extended, check for obstructions in the line of sight, and verify that both radios are set to the same channel and privacy code.
