To start the McCulloch TM252SST Trimmer, ensure it is on a flat surface. Press the primer bulb several times, set the choke lever to the start position, and pull the starter rope until the engine starts. Once it starts, set the choke to the run position.
The McCulloch TM252SST Trimmer requires a mix of unleaded gasoline and 2-stroke engine oil at a ratio of 40:1. Ensure the gasoline is fresh and the oil is suitable for air-cooled 2-stroke engines.
To replace the trimmer line, first turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the trimmer head cover, take out any remaining line, and insert new line through the eyelets. Wind the line evenly, then reattach the cover.
If the engine won't start, check if there is fresh fuel in the tank, the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and the air filter is not clogged. Also, ensure the choke is set correctly and the primer bulb is working.
The air filter should be checked and cleaned every 5 hours of operation. If the trimmer is used in dusty conditions, clean the filter more frequently to ensure optimal performance.
While you can use any quality 2-stroke oil, it is recommended to use oil that meets the JASO-FD or ISO-L-EGD specifications for air-cooled engines to ensure the trimmer operates efficiently and to prolong engine life.
To adjust the carburetor, locate the adjustment screws marked 'L', 'H', and 'T'. Turn the 'L' screw to adjust idle speed, 'H' for high-speed performance, and 'T' for throttle response. Make small adjustments and test the engine in between.
The McCulloch TM252SST Trimmer has a cutting width of approximately 17 inches, making it effective for medium to large garden areas.
Before storing the trimmer, drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to ensure the carburetor is empty. Clean the trimmer thoroughly, inspect for any damage, and store it in a dry, cool place.
If the trimmer line keeps breaking, check for proper installation, ensure the line is not too thin for tough grass, and verify there are no sharp edges in the cutting area. Also, make sure you are not hitting hard surfaces like rocks or concrete.
