To start the McCulloch T26 CS Trimmer, ensure the trimmer is on a flat surface. Set the choke lever to the full choke position. Push the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible. Pull the starter rope until the engine attempts to start, then move the choke to the half-choke position and pull again until the engine starts. Allow it to run for a few seconds, then set the choke to the run position.
If the trimmer line does not advance, check if the line is tangled or too short. Remove the spool and replace or untangle the line. Ensure the line is wound tightly and evenly. Reassemble the spool and test the line advancement.
To clean the air filter, first remove the air filter cover. Take out the filter and wash it with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely before reinserting it. Replace the cover securely.
Use a fuel mixture of 40:1 gasoline to two-stroke oil ratio. This means mixing 3.2 ounces of two-stroke oil with one gallon of unleaded gasoline. Shake the mixture well before fueling the trimmer.
To replace the trimmer line, first turn off the trimmer and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the spool by pressing the tabs on the side. Cut two 10-feet lengths of line, insert each into the anchor holes, and wind them evenly in the direction of the arrow on the spool. Secure the ends in the notches and reattach the spool.
Excessive vibration may be due to a damaged or unbalanced cutting attachment. Inspect the cutting head, line, and shaft for any damage or wear. Replace any damaged parts and ensure the cutting head is securely attached.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 25 hours of use or at least once per season. This includes cleaning the air filter, checking the spark plug, inspecting the fuel filter, and replacing the trimmer line as needed.
If the engine stalls or doesn't start, check the fuel mixture, ensure the spark plug is clean and functioning, and inspect the air filter for clogs. Also, make sure the choke is set correctly. If the issue persists, consult a professional technician.
Adjusting the carburetor should be done carefully. Locate the idle speed screw and turn it clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it. Fine-tune as needed to ensure smooth operation at idle. It is recommended to have carburetor adjustments performed by a professional.
The McCulloch T26 CS is designed for use with McCulloch attachments. Using non-compatible attachments may lead to poor performance or damage. Always check compatibility before using any third-party attachments.
