To start the McCulloch ProMac PM655 FWG, ensure the fuel tank is filled, the oil level is adequate, and the spark plug is connected. Set the throttle to the choke position, hold the safety handle, and pull the starter cord firmly. Once the engine starts, move the throttle to the run position.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol, as it can damage the engine.
It is recommended to change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each mowing season.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and connected, and verify that the air filter is not clogged. If the mower still won't start, consult the user manual for further troubleshooting steps.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening the blades, and inspecting the spark plug. Keep the mower clean and store it in a dry place.
Disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting. Remove the blade by unscrewing the bolt. Use a file or a bench grinder to sharpen the blade, ensuring to maintain the original angle. Reattach the blade and ensure it is balanced.
For cool-season grasses like fescue and bluegrass, maintain a height of 2.5 to 4 inches. For warm-season grasses like Bermuda and zoysia, a height of 1 to 3 inches is recommended.
After each use, disconnect the spark plug and use a garden hose to wash off grass clippings and debris. Avoid using a pressure washer as it can damage components. Dry the mower thoroughly before storing.
Regularly sharpen the blades, keep the air filter clean, use fresh fuel, and ensure the mower's underside is free from grass buildup. Proper maintenance will enhance performance and lifespan.
Always wear protective eyewear and sturdy footwear. Clear the lawn of debris before mowing. Avoid mowing on wet grass or steep slopes. Keep hands and feet away from the mower deck during operation.
