To start the McCulloch PM655FWG Lawn Mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is correct. Pull the throttle lever to the choke position, then pull the starter rope briskly. Once the engine starts, move the throttle to the run position.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 10W-30 for temperatures below 32°F (0°C). Always check the oil level with the dipstick before each use.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 25 hours or at the beginning of each mowing season. Regular oil changes ensure optimal engine performance.
Check the fuel level and ensure it's fresh. Verify the spark plug is clean and connected properly. Ensure the air filter is clean and the throttle is set to the start position.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and wash it with warm soapy water. Rinse it thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
Disconnect the spark plug, then safely remove the blade. Use a file or a bench grinder to sharpen the blade, maintaining the original angle. Balance the blade before reinstalling it.
Locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired position to change the cutting height. Ensure all wheels are set at the same height for an even cut.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a damaged or unbalanced blade. Check for bends or cracks and ensure the blade is properly balanced and securely attached.
Ensure the air filter is clean and the fuel is fresh. Avoid mowing wet grass and adjust the cutting height to avoid overloading the engine. Regular maintenance can also prevent stalling issues.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening the blade, and inspecting the spark plug. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines for maintenance intervals.
