Use a mixture of unleaded gasoline and high-quality 2-stroke oil at a ratio of 50:1. Ensure the gasoline has an octane rating of 90 or higher.
Clean the air filter every 5 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. Remove the filter, wash it with soap and water, let it dry, and then re-oil before reinstalling.
Check the cutting attachment to ensure it is properly balanced and securely fastened. Inspect the drive shaft for damage and ensure all protective covers are intact.
Turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the spool from the trimmer head, and wind the correct diameter line onto the spool in the direction indicated. Reassemble the spool and ensure it is securely fastened.
After each use, clean the cutting head and air filter, inspect for any wear or damage, and ensure all nuts and bolts are tight. Drain the fuel if the brushcutter will not be used for an extended period.
Ensure the fuel is fresh and the correct mix. Check the spark plug for fouling or damage and replace if necessary. Inspect the air filter for clogs and clean or replace it.
Ensure the cutting line is of the correct diameter and wound properly. Avoid striking hard surfaces while trimming and reduce speed in dense vegetation.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment such as safety goggles, gloves, and long pants. Ensure bystanders are at a safe distance and work in well-ventilated areas.
Clean the brushcutter thoroughly, remove any fuel from the tank, and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Store it in a dry, secure place away from direct sunlight.
