To start the McCulloch MM53-650CMDW lawn mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is correct. Prime the engine if necessary, then pull back the safety lever toward the handle and use the starter rope to start the engine.
If the lawn mower won't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, inspect the air filter for clogs, and verify that the safety lever is engaged.
It is recommended to change the oil in your McCulloch lawn mower after the first 5 hours of use and then every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each mowing season.
Use SAE 30 oil for general mowing conditions. In cooler temperatures, SAE 10W-30 may be used to improve starting.
To clean the air filter, remove the filter cover, take out the filter, and gently clean it with soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry before reinserting it into the mower.
Excessive vibration may be caused by a damaged blade or loose components. Inspect the blade for damage and balance, and ensure all nuts and bolts are tightly secured.
Adjust the cutting height by using the height adjustment levers located near each wheel. Move the levers to your desired cutting height position.
Before storing the lawn mower for winter, clean the mower deck, change the oil, remove the fuel or add a fuel stabilizer, and disconnect the spark plug. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered location.
To sharpen the blade, disconnect the spark plug, remove the blade from the mower, and use a file or a sharpening tool to sharpen the blade evenly. Balance the blade before reinstalling.
If cutting is uneven, check that the wheels are set to the same height, ensure the blade is sharp and balanced, and inspect for any obstructions under the mower deck.
