Ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is disengaged, and the throttle is in the fast position. Turn the ignition key to start the engine.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 50 hours of use or at the beginning of each season.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 32°F.
Check the battery connections, ensure there is fresh fuel, examine the spark plug for wear, and verify that the air filter is clean.
Use the height adjustment lever located near the right rear wheel to set your desired grass cutting height.
Check the PTO switch and ensure it is in the "Engage" position. Also, inspect the drive belts for wear or damage.
Use a garden hose to clean the underside of the mower deck. Avoid spraying water directly on the engine or electrical components.
Regularly check the oil level, air filter, spark plug, tire pressure, and blades for sharpness. Clean the mower deck after each use.
Drain the fuel tank, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry, sheltered area. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place.
