To start the McCulloch MC17107, ensure the fuel tank is filled, the oil level is correct, and the spark plug is connected. Pull the throttle to the start position, hold the safety lever, and pull the starter rope briskly.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and connected, and verify that the air filter is not clogged. Also, confirm the safety lever is engaged while starting.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 25 hours of operation or at the beginning of each mowing season.
Use SAE 30 oil for the best performance in temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For colder temperatures, use SAE 10W-30.
Remove the air filter cover, clean any debris, and wash the foam filter with soap and water. Allow it to dry thoroughly before reinstalling.
Disconnect the spark plug, tilt the mower, and remove the blade. Sharpen using a file or grinder, ensuring the blade is balanced before reinstallation.
Ensure that the blades are sharp, the mower deck is clean from grass buildup, and the lawn is dry before mowing. Adjust the cutting height as needed for best results.
Check for a damaged or unbalanced blade, loose bolts, or debris lodged in the mower deck. Tighten any loose parts and ensure the blade is properly balanced.
Drain the fuel system or add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, remove the battery (if applicable), clean the mower, and store in a dry place.
Check the oil level before each use, clean the mower deck after each use, inspect the air filter every 25 hours, and sharpen the blades as needed.
