To start the McCulloch MC025 Trimmer, ensure the choke is in the 'closed' position, press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible, set the throttle to the start position, and pull the starter rope until the engine fires. Then, move the choke to the 'open' position and pull again until the engine starts.
The McCulloch MC025 Trimmer requires a gasoline and oil mix. Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 and mix it with a high-quality 2-cycle engine oil at a 40:1 ratio.
To replace the trimmer line, turn off the trimmer and disconnect the spark plug. Remove the spool from the trimmer head, thread the new line through the holes, wind the line evenly around the spool, and reattach the spool to the trimmer head.
If the trimmer won't start, check for fuel issues, ensure the spark plug is functioning, and inspect the air filter for clogs. Ensure that the choke is used correctly during startup and that the trimmer has fresh fuel.
Clean the air filter after every 5 hours of operation. Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and wash it with warm soapy water. Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
Wear protective eyewear, gloves, and long pants while operating the trimmer. Keep bystanders at least 50 feet away, and always operate the trimmer with both hands on the handles.
To adjust the carburetor, locate the idle speed screw and the adjustment screws for high and low speed. Use a screwdriver to turn the screws clockwise to lean the mixture or counterclockwise to enrich it until the engine runs smoothly.
If the trimmer line keeps breaking, ensure you are using the correct diameter line, avoid hitting hard objects, and check that the line is not old or brittle. Adjust the cutting technique to avoid excessive contact with hard surfaces.
Empty the fuel tank, clean the exterior, and inspect for any damage or wear. Store the trimmer in a dry, well-ventilated area, preferably hanging to prevent damage to the shaft.
Regular maintenance includes checking and replacing the spark plug annually, cleaning the air filter every 5 hours of use, inspecting the trimmer line, and lubricating moving parts to ensure smooth operation.
