To start the McCulloch MAC 426L Trimmer, ensure it is on a flat surface. Set the choke to the "closed" position, press the primer bulb 6 times, and pull the starter rope until the engine starts. Once started, set the choke to "open".
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 90, mixed with high-quality 2-cycle engine oil in a ratio of 40:1.
First, turn off the trimmer and disconnect the spark plug wire. Remove the spool from the trimmer head, unwind the old line, and replace it with a new line by following the directional arrows on the spool.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it in warm soapy water, rinse, and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Ensure the filter is clean for optimal performance.
If the engine is flooded, remove the spark plug and pull the starter rope several times to clear excess fuel. Dry the spark plug and reinstall it before attempting to start the engine again.
It is recommended to replace the spark plug every season or after 100 hours of operation to ensure reliable starting and efficient performance.
The correct idle speed for the McCulloch MAC 426L Trimmer is 2,800 to 3,200 RPM. Adjust the idle speed screw on the carburetor to maintain this range.
Ensure that you are using the correct diameter of trimmer line and avoid hitting hard surfaces. Keep the line at a proper length and replace it if it becomes brittle.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a damaged trimmer head or an unbalanced cutting attachment. Inspect these parts for damage and replace them if necessary.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter, checking and replacing the spark plug, inspecting the trimmer head, and lubricating moving parts. Follow the user manual for detailed maintenance schedules.
