To start the McCulloch M56-140WF, ensure the fuel tank is filled and the spark plug is connected. Pull the starter handle slowly until you feel resistance, then pull briskly to start the engine.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each mowing season. Use SAE 30 oil for best performance.
Check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Inspect the spark plug for damage or fouling and replace if necessary. Confirm that the air filter is clean and not obstructed.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment levers on each wheel. Move the levers to the desired cutting height position, ensuring all wheels are set to the same level.
Check the air filter before each use. Clean it every 25 hours of operation or more frequently in dusty conditions. Replace the air filter if it is damaged or excessively dirty.
Regularly check and maintain the engine oil, air filter, and spark plug. Keep the mower blades sharp and clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass buildup.
Excessive vibration may be caused by an unbalanced blade. Check the blade for damage and ensure it is properly secured. Replace or sharpen the blade if necessary.
Drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to clear the carburetor. Clean the mower thoroughly and store it in a dry, covered area. Remove the battery and store it separately if applicable.
Inspect the blade regularly for wear or damage. Sharpen the blade every 25 hours of use or as needed to ensure a clean cut. Replace the blade if it shows signs of cracking or other damage.
