Ensure that the mower is on a flat surface. Press the primer bulb three times, set the throttle lever to the start position, and pull the starter rope firmly.
Perform regular maintenance every 25 hours of use or annually, whichever comes first. This includes changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, and sharpening the blades.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected, and inspect the air filter for clogs. If issues persist, inspect the carburetor and fuel lines.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C) and 10W-30 for temperatures below 40°F (4°C).
Locate the height adjustment lever on each wheel, and move the levers to the desired cutting height position. Ensure all four wheels are set to the same height.
Check for debris stuck in the blade area, inspect the blade for damage, and ensure that the blade is properly balanced and securely fastened.
Turn off the mower and disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a garden hose to rinse off grass clippings, and scrape off any stubborn debris with a brush or plastic scraper.
Check that the blade is sharp and not bent. Ensure the wheels are set to the same height and inspect the lawn for uneven surfaces.
Regularly maintain the mower by keeping the blade sharp, cleaning the air filter, and ensuring the tire pressure is adequate. Avoid mowing wet grass.
Drain the fuel tank, clean the mower, and store it in a dry, sheltered area. Disconnect the spark plug and consider using a mower cover to protect it from dust and moisture.
