To start the McCulloch M51–650CMD Lawn Mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled, the spark plug is connected, and the oil level is adequate. Pull the starter cord gently until you feel resistance, then pull it sharply to start the engine.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than 10% as they can damage the engine.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each mowing season. Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and verify that the air filter is not clogged. If the problem persists, consult the user manual or a professional technician.
Disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting. Tip the mower on its side with the air filter facing up. Use a brush or hose to remove grass clippings and debris from the deck.
The mower has a lever near each wheel for adjusting the cutting height. Move the lever to the desired position to raise or lower the deck. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Drain the fuel tank, change the oil, clean the mower deck, and inspect the spark plug and air filter. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered area.
Excessive vibration may be caused by a damaged blade, loose parts, or debris lodged in the deck. Inspect and balance the blades, tighten any loose bolts, and clear any obstructions.
Regular maintenance such as cleaning the air filter, changing the oil, and keeping the blade sharp can improve fuel efficiency. Also, mow at optimal engine speed and avoid mowing wet grass.
Check the cutting height settings to ensure they are consistent on all wheels. Inspect the blade for damage or dullness and sharpen or replace it if necessary.
