To start the McCulloch M51–160 CD Lawn Mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled, the spark plug is connected, and the oil level is adequate. Prime the engine by pressing the primer bulb 3-5 times, then pull the starter rope briskly.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. For oil, use SAE 30 oil for general use or SAE 10W-30 if operating in colder temperatures.
Sharpen the mower blades at least once per mowing season or more frequently if the grass appears torn or uneven after cutting.
Check if there's fuel in the tank, ensure the spark plug is clean and connected, and verify that the air filter is not clogged. If these steps don't help, inspect the fuel line for blockages.
Turn off the mower and disconnect the spark plug. Use a brush or cloth to remove grass clippings from the deck and blades. Avoid using water on the engine to prevent damage.
Check the oil level before each use, clean the air filter every 25 hours of operation, and change the oil every 50 hours or annually. Sharpen blades and inspect the spark plug every season.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever on each wheel and move it to the desired position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced blade, loose hardware, or debris lodged in the blade area. Inspect and tighten all components, and clean the deck area.
For off-season storage, empty the fuel tank, remove the spark plug, and clean the mower thoroughly. Store it in a dry, sheltered area to prevent rust and damage.
To replace the air filter, locate the air filter cover on the side of the engine, remove the cover, and replace the old filter with a new one. Ensure the cover is securely reattached.
