To start the McCulloch M51-150WF, ensure the fuel tank is filled, the oil level is correct, and the spark plug is connected. Pull the starter rope firmly while holding the safety lever against the handle.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 10W-30 for a range of temperatures. Always check the oil level before use.
The blades should be sharpened every 25 hours of use. If you notice uneven cutting or tearing of the grass, it's time to sharpen the blades.
Check the fuel level, spark plug connection, and ensure the air filter is clean. If the problem persists, inspect the ignition system and carburetor.
The cutting height can be adjusted using the lever located on each wheel. Move the lever to the desired height position.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening the blades, and inspecting the spark plug. Refer to the manual for detailed schedules.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and clean it with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
The correct spark plug gap is 0.030 inches (0.76 mm). Check the gap with a feeler gauge and adjust as necessary.
Ensure the mower deck is clean, mow dry grass, and avoid cutting more than one-third of the grass height at a time. Regularly check and clean the discharge chute.
To store the mower for winter, drain the fuel tank, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry, sheltered area. It's also recommended to change the oil and remove the battery if applicable.
