To start the McCulloch M51–140RP lawn mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Pull the starter handle gently until you feel resistance, then pull it briskly.
Check if the spark plug is clean and connected properly, ensure there is sufficient fuel and oil, and inspect the air filter for any blockages.
Change the oil every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each mowing season, whichever comes first.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 10W-30 for varying temperature ranges.
Regularly sharpen the blade and ensure the underside of the mower deck is clean from grass build-up.
Check for any debris stuck in the blade or under the deck, and ensure the blade is balanced and properly installed.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, and clean it with warm soapy water. Let it dry completely before reinstalling.
The recommended spark plug gap is 0.028-0.031 inches (0.7-0.8 mm).
Empty the fuel tank, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry, cool place. Consider removing the spark plug and adding a few drops of oil into the cylinder.
Inspect the drive belt for wear or damage, ensure the drive cable is properly adjusted, and check for any obstructions in the wheels.
