To start the McCulloch M46–500 CMDW, ensure the fuel tank is filled, the oil level is correct, and the spark plug is connected. Pull the starter cord firmly while holding the safety lever down.
After each use, clean the mower deck to prevent grass buildup, check for loose bolts, and ensure there is no damage to the blade. Also, inspect the air filter and clean it if necessary.
It is recommended to sharpen the blade every 20-25 hours of use, or at the start of each mowing season, to ensure a clean cut and prevent damage to the grass.
Check if there is fuel in the tank, the spark plug is clean and connected, and the air filter is not clogged. If these are fine, inspect the fuel line for blockages.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up. Turn off the mower, remove the oil cap, and tip the mower on its side to drain the old oil into a container. Refill with fresh oil and replace the cap.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol as it can damage the engine.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever near each wheel. Move the lever to the desired position to raise or lower the cutting deck evenly.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced blade. Check if the blade is loose, damaged, or unbalanced and rectify as needed. Tighten any loose bolts on the mower deck as well.
Replace the spark plug every season or after 100 hours of operation, whichever comes first, to ensure efficient starting and engine performance.
Uncut grass patches can be caused by a dull blade, incorrect cutting height, or mowing too quickly. Sharpen the blade, adjust the cutting height, and mow at a steady pace to improve results.
