To start the McCulloch M46-500 CMD Lawn Mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Pull the safety lever towards the handle, and then pull the starter rope firmly.
Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance in temperatures above 4°C (40°F). For colder temperatures, SAE 5W-30 can be used.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever near the wheels. Move it to the desired position, ensuring all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is connected properly, and verify the air filter is clean. If the mower still doesn't start, inspect the spark plug for wear and replace if necessary.
Sharpen the blades at least once a mowing season or after 25 hours of use for optimal cutting performance.
Perform an oil change every 50 hours of use or annually, clean or replace the air filter every 25 hours, and check the spark plug condition regularly.
After use, disconnect the spark plug wire, and use a brush or compressed air to remove grass clippings and debris from the mower deck and blades. Avoid using water to prevent rust.
Check for debris lodged in the blades, ensure the blade is not bent, and verify it is securely fastened. If vibration persists, consult a professional for inspection.
Drain the fuel tank, clean the mower thoroughly, and store it in a dry, sheltered area. Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starting.
Wear protective eyewear and sturdy footwear, keep bystanders away from the mowing area, and never refuel the mower while it is running or hot.
