Ensure the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Prime the engine by pressing the primer bulb three times, pull the starter rope firmly to start the engine.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum of 87 octane. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than 10%.
Sharpen the blades at least once per mowing season or when you notice the grass is being torn rather than cut cleanly.
Check the fuel level, inspect the spark plug for fouling, and ensure the air filter is clean. Replace any damaged components.
Disconnect the spark plug for safety, tilt the mower to its side, and use a hose to wash off grass clippings and debris from the deck.
Perform regular maintenance every 25 hours of operation, including oil changes, air filter cleaning, and blade sharpening.
Warm up the engine, turn off and disconnect the spark plug, remove the oil cap, and drain the old oil into a container. Refill with new oil as per the specifications.
Check for debris stuck in the blades or under the deck, ensure the blade is balanced and properly installed, and inspect the mower for any loose parts.
Locate the air filter cover, remove it, take out the old air filter, and replace it with a new one. Ensure the cover is securely reattached.
Clean the mower thoroughly, empty the fuel tank, change the oil, and store it in a dry, sheltered location. Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starts.
