To start the McCulloch M46–140R lawn mower, ensure that the fuel tank is filled with fresh gasoline and the oil level is adequate. Press the primer bulb three to five times, pull the starter rope firmly until the engine starts, and adjust the throttle as needed.
If the lawn mower won't start, check the fuel level and add gasoline if necessary. Ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected. Inspect the air filter for clogs and clean or replace it as needed. Finally, verify that the primer bulb is working correctly.
It is recommended to sharpen the mower blade every 20-25 hours of use or at the start of each mowing season. Sharp blades ensure a clean cut and promote healthier lawn growth.
To change the oil, first, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up. Then, turn off the engine and remove the oil drain plug. Allow the old oil to drain completely into a suitable container. Replace the drain plug and refill with the recommended oil type and amount.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent engine damage.
To clean the air filter, remove the filter cover and take out the air filter. If it's a foam filter, wash it with warm, soapy water, rinse, and let it dry completely before reinstalling. For paper filters, tap it gently to remove debris, or replace it if it's heavily soiled.
Ensure the blade is sharp and balanced. Mow at the correct height for your grass type and avoid mowing when the grass is wet. Regularly clean the underside of the mower deck to prevent grass build-up.
At the end of the season, drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer. Change the oil, clean or replace the air filter, and inspect the spark plug. Store the mower in a dry, sheltered area. Sharpen and balance the blade before the next season.
To adjust the cutting height on the McCulloch M46–140R, locate the height adjustment lever on each wheel. Move the lever to the desired position to raise or lower the mower deck uniformly across all wheels.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced or damaged blade. Check the blade for damage and balance it as needed. Make sure all nuts and bolts are tight. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
