To start the McCulloch M46–125, first ensure the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Set the throttle to the start position, press the primer bulb three times, and pull the starter cord.
Check for fuel and oil levels, inspect the spark plug for damage or fouling, ensure the air filter is clean, and verify the primer bulb is functioning. If problems persist, consult the manual or a professional technician.
The oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of use and then every 25 hours or once per season. Always use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance.
To clean the cutting deck, ensure the mower is off and disconnect the spark plug. Tilt the mower to the side and use a brush or hose to remove grass clippings and debris. Avoid using sharp objects to prevent damage.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol blends exceeding 10% ethanol to prevent engine damage.
Regularly inspect the blade for nicks and dullness. Sharpen the blade every 25 hours of use or at the start of the mowing season using a file or grinder. Replace the blade if excessively worn or damaged.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the lever on each wheel. Move the levers to select the desired height setting, ensuring all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
At season's end, drain the fuel, change the oil, clean the mower thoroughly, check the spark plug and air filter, and store the mower in a dry, sheltered location.
To replace the air filter, locate the filter cover, remove it, and take out the old filter. Insert a new filter of the same type and replace the cover securely.
Excessive vibration can be caused by a damaged blade or loose components. Check and tighten any loose bolts, and inspect the blade for damage. Replace the blade if necessary.
