Ensure the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Set the throttle to the 'start' position, then press the primer bulb 3 times. Pull the starter handle firmly to start the engine.
Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel is fresh. Inspect the spark plug for wear and replace if necessary. Make sure the air filter is clean and not clogged.
It is recommended to change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 25 hours of operation or once per season.
Use SAE 30 oil for general use in temperatures above 32°F (0°C). For colder conditions, use SAE 5W-30.
Ensure the blade is sharp and properly balanced. Clean the underside of the mower deck to remove grass clippings and debris. Adjust the cutting height to suit the type of grass and conditions.
Check for a bent or damaged blade. Inspect for loose or missing hardware and ensure the blade is securely fastened. Balance the blade if necessary.
Turn off the mower and disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a garden hose to rinse the underside of the deck. Avoid spraying water directly on the engine. Dry the mower with a cloth to prevent rust.
Check the tire pressure and ensure they're evenly inflated. Verify that the blade is sharp and not damaged. Adjust the mower wheels to ensure they're set at the same height.
Regular maintenance includes changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening the blade, and checking the spark plug. Inspect the mower for loose bolts and clean it regularly.
Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer to prevent gumming. Clean the mower thoroughly and change the oil. Store in a dry, covered area and disconnect the spark plug wire.
