To start the McCulloch M13597 Lawn Mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled, the oil level is adequate, the spark plug is connected, and the blade control lever is engaged. Pull the starter rope firmly to start the engine.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87 for the McCulloch M13597. Avoid using ethanol blends above 10%.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 25 hours of operation or at the start of each mowing season. Use SAE 30 oil for optimal performance.
If the mower doesn't start, check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and verify the air filter is not clogged. Also, make sure the blade control lever is engaged.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the height adjustment lever near the wheels. Move the lever to the desired setting to raise or lower the cutting height. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Regular maintenance tasks include checking and changing the oil, cleaning or replacing the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, sharpening the blades, and ensuring all nuts and bolts are tight.
To sharpen the blades, disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the blade from the mower, and use a file or grinder to sharpen the cutting edge evenly. Reinstall the blade securely before using the mower.
Excessive vibration can be caused by an unbalanced blade, loose parts, or debris lodged in the mower. Inspect the blade for damage, tighten any loose parts, and clear any debris.
To improve performance, ensure regular maintenance is performed, use fresh fuel, sharpen the blades frequently, and clean the underside of the deck to prevent grass buildup.
For winter storage, drain the fuel tank, change the oil, remove and clean the spark plug, and store the mower in a dry, sheltered area. Cover it to protect from dust and moisture.
