To start the McCulloch LM5547 CD Lawn Mower, ensure the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is appropriate. Prime the engine by pressing the primer bulb 3-5 times, then pull the starter cord firmly.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using E85 fuel as it may damage the engine.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours or at the start of each mowing season.
Check the fuel level, ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected, and verify the air filter is not clogged. Review the user manual for additional troubleshooting steps.
Ensure the mower is off and the spark plug wire is disconnected. Tilt the mower to the side and use a brush and hose to remove grass clippings and debris from the deck.
Locate the height adjustment lever on each wheel and set it to the desired position. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height for an even cut.
Regularly sharpen the blades, mow with dry grass, and ensure the mower deck is clean to maintain optimal cutting performance.
Drain the fuel tank, clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, and store it in a dry place. Disconnect the battery if applicable.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug wrench to remove the old plug, and install a new one of the same type. Ensure it is properly gapped.
Smoke can indicate oil spillage on the engine or a clogged air filter. Check for leaks and clean or replace the air filter as necessary.
