To start the McCulloch BVM 240 Blower, ensure the fuel tank is filled with the correct fuel mix. Set the choke to the closed position, press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible, and pull the starter rope. Once the engine starts, move the choke to the open position.
The McCulloch BVM 240 Blower requires a fuel mixture of 40:1, which means 40 parts gasoline to 1 part two-stroke engine oil. Always use fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89.
To clean the air filter, remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it in warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and allow it to dry completely. Reinstall the filter and the cover securely.
If the blower is not blowing air strongly, check for blockages in the blower tube, ensure the air filter is clean, and confirm the spark plug is in good condition. Additionally, inspect the fuel mixture and carburetor settings.
If the engine is flooded, remove the spark plug and pull the starter rope several times to clear excess fuel. Dry the spark plug and reinstall it. Try starting the engine without using the choke.
To replace the spark plug, first disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a spark plug wrench to remove the old spark plug. Install a new, correctly gapped spark plug and reconnect the spark plug wire.
Basic maintenance such as checking and cleaning the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, and assessing the fuel mixture should be done every 10 hours of operation. Comprehensive maintenance should be performed annually.
Excessive vibration can be caused by loose parts, damaged impeller blades, or debris caught in the blower housing. Inspect and tighten any loose components and remove any debris.
For long-term storage, empty the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Clean the blower thoroughly and store it in a dry location. Consider removing the spark plug and adding a few drops of oil to the cylinder to prevent corrosion.
If the blower does not start, check the fuel tank for the correct mixture, inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, ensure the air filter is clean, and verify that the ignition switch is in the 'ON' position.
