Ensure the fuel tank is filled and the oil level is adequate. Set the choke to start, pull the starter cord briskly, and adjust the choke as the engine warms up.
Check the fuel level, spark plug condition, and air filter. Ensure the spark plug is clean and properly connected. If issues persist, inspect the carburetor for blockage.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 25 hours of operation or at the beginning of each mowing season.
Disconnect the spark plug and use a garden hose to wash off grass clippings. Scrape off any stuck debris with a plastic scraper, avoiding metal tools to prevent damage.
Remove the blade by unscrewing the bolt holding it. Use a grinder or file to sharpen the blade, maintaining the original angle, and balance it before reattaching.
Clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, drain the fuel or use a fuel stabilizer, and store it in a dry place. Disconnect the spark plug to prevent accidental starts.
Locate the height adjustment lever near the wheels. Move the lever to raise or lower the cutting deck to the desired height. Ensure all wheels are set to the same level.
Check for a damaged or unbalanced blade. Inspect the engine mounting bolts and blade mounting bolts to ensure they are tight. Replace any worn or damaged parts.
Regular maintenance such as changing the oil, replacing the air filter, and keeping the blade sharp can enhance fuel efficiency. Avoid mowing wet grass as it can cause more fuel consumption.
Use a spark plug specified in the mower's user manual, typically an NGK BPR6ES or equivalent. Consult the manual for confirmation and proper gap settings.
