To perform a factory reset on the Icom IC-GM651, turn off the transceiver. Then, hold down the [FUNC] and [DIAL] buttons simultaneously while turning the power back on. This will reset the unit to its factory settings.
It is recommended to perform a routine check every 6 months, including cleaning the unit, checking antenna connections, and ensuring firmware is up-to-date. Additionally, perform a full inspection annually, including testing all functions and inspecting for any physical damage.
Download the latest firmware from the Icom official website. Connect the transceiver to your computer via a USB cable, then follow the instructions provided in the firmware update tool to complete the update. Ensure the unit remains powered on during the process.
First, check the power supply and ensure it is providing the correct voltage. Inspect the power cable for any damage. If the issue persists, try using a different power source. If the transceiver still does not power on, consult a professional technician.
To manually program channels, press the [FUNC] button followed by [CH] to enter the channel programming mode. Use the [DIAL] to select the desired channel number, then enter the frequency and other settings. Save the configuration by pressing [FUNC] again.
Ensure the transceiver is powered on and the brightness settings are adjusted correctly. Check for any loose connections or cables. If the problem persists, reset the transceiver or check for possible firmware issues.
Ensure the microphone is properly connected and functioning. Adjust the squelch and volume settings to optimal levels. Additionally, check for any external interference or noise sources that could affect audio quality.
Connect an SWR meter between the antenna and the transceiver. Transmit on a frequency within the operating band and read the SWR value. Adjust the antenna as necessary for optimal SWR, ideally below 1.5:1.
Press the [DW] button on the transceiver to activate dual watch mode. This allows you to monitor two channels simultaneously. Adjust the main and sub-channel settings as needed.
Check if the microphone is connected securely. Ensure the transceiver is set to the correct mode and frequency. Verify that the antenna is properly connected and not damaged. If the issue remains, inspect the settings or reset the unit.
