The recommended oil type for the 2021 Honda CRF250R is Pro Honda GN4 4-stroke oil, 10W-30 or 10W-40.
It is recommended to change the oil every 15 hours of use or more frequently if riding in extreme conditions.
To adjust the suspension, use the clickers located on the front forks and rear shock to fine-tune compression and rebound settings based on your riding style and terrain. Consult the owner’s manual for specific guidance.
The chain slack should be adjusted to 1.4 inches (35 mm) when measured at the mid-point of the chain between the front and rear sprockets.
If the bike has starting issues, check the battery charge, ensure the fuel is fresh, inspect the spark plug for fouling, and verify that the kill switch is not engaged.
The intake valve clearance should be 0.15 mm (0.006 inches) and the exhaust valve clearance should be 0.28 mm (0.011 inches).
Remove the air filter, clean it with air filter cleaner, rinse it thoroughly, let it dry, and then apply air filter oil before reinstalling. Inspect and clean after every ride in dusty conditions.
Use unleaded gasoline with a pump octane number of 91 or higher.
Ensure the brake pads are not worn, bleed the brake lines to remove air, and check the brake fluid level. Upgrading to high-performance brake pads can also improve performance.
For optimal performance, maintain the front tire pressure at 15 psi and the rear at 15 psi. Adjust as needed based on terrain and rider preference.
