To start the Herkules EA1700H Auger, ensure that the fuel tank is filled, the choke is closed, and the throttle is set to the start position. Pull the starter rope briskly until the engine starts. Once the engine is running smoothly, open the choke gradually.
Regular maintenance for the Herkules EA1700H includes checking and replacing the air filter, changing the engine oil, checking the spark plug, and inspecting the fuel system for leaks. It is advisable to follow the maintenance schedule provided in the user manual.
If the engine does not start, check the fuel level and ensure fresh fuel is used. Verify that the spark plug is clean and properly gapped. Inspect the air filter and remove any obstructions. Additionally, ensure that the choke is in the correct starting position.
The Herkules EA1700H Auger is designed to run on unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. It is recommended to use fresh gasoline and to avoid using fuel with more than 10% ethanol.
To change the auger blades, first ensure the engine is off and the spark plug is disconnected. Use a wrench to remove the bolts securing the blades. Replace with new blades and tighten the bolts securely. Always refer to the manual for specific instructions and torque settings.
Excessive vibration may be caused by loose bolts, damaged blades, or an unbalanced auger. Check all bolts and connections for tightness, inspect blades for damage, and ensure the auger is balanced and properly attached.
Before storing, clean the auger thoroughly, drain the fuel system, and change the oil. Store in a dry, sheltered location. It is also advisable to lubricate moving parts and cover the auger to protect it from dust and moisture.
If the auger jams, immediately turn off the engine and disconnect the spark plug. Clear any debris or objects causing the jam with a tool, not your hands. Once cleared, reconnect the spark plug and restart the engine.
To check the oil level, place the auger on a level surface and remove the dipstick. Wipe it clean, reinsert it fully, and then remove it again to check the oil level. Ensure the oil level is between the minimum and maximum markers.
Always wear appropriate safety gear, including gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection. Keep bystanders at a safe distance, and never allow children to operate the auger. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid contact with underground utilities.
