To turn on the Cobra XRS 9955, plug it into your car's power outlet using the provided power cord. The device will automatically power on. If it doesn't, press the power button located on the top of the unit.
Ensure that the device is properly mounted on your windshield and that the lens is unobstructed. Check the settings to confirm that all radar bands are enabled. If the issue persists, perform a factory reset.
Currently, the Cobra XRS 9955 does not support software updates as it is designed to use pre-programmed radar and laser detection capabilities.
Mount the Cobra XRS 9955 on your windshield near the center, below the rear-view mirror, for optimal detection range and performance. Ensure it has a clear view of the road ahead.
Use the City mode to reduce false alerts in urban areas. You can adjust the sensitivity settings and enable the filtering features to minimize interference from non-police radar sources.
The VG-2 Alert mode detects and alerts you to the presence of VG-2 radar detector detectors, which are used by some law enforcement agencies to identify radar detectors.
To perform a factory reset, power off the device. Press and hold the "City" and "Dim" buttons simultaneously while powering the device back on. Release the buttons when the display shows "RESET".
The use of radar detectors is legal in most states for non-commercial vehicles. However, their use is prohibited in Virginia and Washington D.C., as well as in all commercial vehicles over 10,000 pounds.
Clean the lens with a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a gentle glass cleaner. Avoid using abrasive materials or excessive moisture.
IntelliMute is designed to automatically mute alerts based on your vehicle's engine RPMs, preventing unnecessary alerts when you are not at risk of being detected by radar.
